06.24.2006 - The 5th Philippine Hobbies, Toys, & Collectibles Convention 2006 has lived up to its expectations now a two day extravagant. A place for kids and kids at heart. This year ToyCon2006 goes international with guest of honor Digger Mesch. The president of Art Asylum, who came out with the action figures for Star Trek, Emminem, and countless other action figures invited by Fudge magazine and Collectibles Unlimited. Truly ToyCon 2006 was not only about toys, comics, and collectibles. There where cosplayers and band performances like Akafellas, FuseBox, The Late Isabel, NEOtaku, and Transformers Philippines' new rock band Reklamo who dropped by the Transformers Fans Philippines booth on day one, and was jammed on day two.
There where a lot of toys given away and prizes, where raffled off. The first day was just for starters have been quite a surprise with each booth bringing in there own activities like Games Master magazine's Voltes V giveaway just go there and play. Fudge magazine's talent search for Art Asylum. Artists' Den was there besides the Alfredo Alcala art gallery. Hero TV's Dianne was interviewing fans and celebrities alike. Transformers Fans Philippines introduced the Hi-Speed Transforming Contest to kids ages 5-12 years old, and we congratulate this year's winner. The finals for the adult competition was set on stage on day two sponsored by Great Toys, and this year's overall champion won the coveted Transformers Cybertron Primus. Toy groups have booths too besides Tranformers Fans Philippines like our friends from Toy Empire and Toy Soldier was hanging out at the TFPH booth.
The last day was the biggest crowd ever coming from all over the place. The booths where selling stuff you rarely see, and bargains makes your pockets scream. The event has mostly the good stuff this year, and can't be far behind compared to our foreign counterparts in this year's San Diego Comic Con or Wizard World Con to be held Chicago. The most glamorous cosplayers, hottest band performances, and chicks dig geeks when the next Toy Con returns next year expect a bigger audience will come and its like it was Christmas in June every year.
